St. Patty's Day

Maya's first St. Patrick's Day was celebrated in Bahrain. We left Friday a.m. and returned late Saturday p.m.

We visited the ORIGINAL Ric's Kountry Kitchen (those of you from Doha will appreciate that...and we had REAL pork & ham!), the malls (nothing spectacular, but the primary attraction in Bahrain), the National Museum (pretty decent, as regional museums go), and the Tree of Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_Life,_Bahrain). We took a VERY scenic route to the Tree of Life and ended up driving through a quarry and oil production fields...very interesting. We don't advise driving through such a place during a dust storm though!! We also had a nice lunch at the Ritz Carlton before we left.

Visuals of why it's not a good idea to drive through oil production fields in a dust storm....

Also, watch out for oil pipelines as you drive around!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

You found the real Tree of Life! I swear we drove around for 2 hours down there and ONLY saw oil pipelines... . I have been comforting myself this whole time by believing that it wasn't real... .
