Random Stuff about Qatar

CALL TO PRAYER
It's very cool to hear the calls to prayer - 5 times a day, and you're always near a mosque or ten so you can't miss it. There are also prayer rooms everywhere. I almost stumbled into one at the mall because I thought it was a bathroom, so you have to be careful!

CORN
They seem to love corn here. They have random corn stalls all over the place. It's basically corn in a cup, it looks like it came out of a can or a bag of frozen corn or something. Supposedly it's kind of sweet too. I'll let you know when I try it.

WEEKENDS
Friday and Saturday are the weekend. Friday is like our Sunday, as we learned the hard way today. After the driver picked us up and we told him to take us to the local supermarket, we arrived to discover that it had closed until 1pm, after services. The work week starts on Sunday.


THE QATAR 50
Have you heard of the Freshman 15? Well here it's like the Qatar 50. Nobody exercises (besides, it's just too darn hot right now!) and there is lots of good food to eat all the time. Mmmm...
